What GSM of towels do 4-star and 5-star hotels usually choose?

Business hotels generally select 400–500 GSM towels. Four-star hotels prefer 500–580 GSM, while 5-star luxury hotels and resorts adopt 550–700 GSM high-density terry towels. Higher GSM provides better absorption, fluffiness and durability. Low GSM towels turn thin and rough quickly after repeated industrial laundry.

Which material is the best for commercial hotel towels?

100% combed long-staple cotton is the top choice for premium hotel towels. It has low linting, outstanding water absorption and withstands hundreds of commercial washes. Blended cotton or short-staple cotton reduces production cost but easily sheds lint and hardens, which may trigger negative guest reviews.

Why do hotel towels become stiff after frequent washing?

Stiff towels are mainly caused by inferior raw materials, insufficient pre-wash softening treatment, or improper laundry operations such as overuse of alkaline detergent.
